Translated by Julio Flores.
Watch video: In Spanish
Beatriz Preciado: is a filosofer and professor of gender theory. She critices the differences stablished by the heterosexual tradition, she proposes a new sexuality exposed in her new book (The Contrasexual Manifest).
When we get born the process of sexual asignation is not based on a cromosomical or genetic analisys, do you know your cromosomical card?, for sure not, either do i and even so you are "completly sure" your gender is femenine as well as mine, but personaly i am not sure of that, i do not have that certainty but some people do it without to know their own cromosomical card, then in some way the asignation of a masculine or femenine gender at birth is made on a visual proceed that is linked to the aeasthetical of the body rather than sexuality or sex.
First of all we need to accept that there are multiplicity, that the body is multiple and plastic, and than this have multiple expresions that can not be reduced to the conceps of masculine and femenine.
The gender category was invented just to reduce that multiplicity to the conceps of (masculine and femenine). Sex after the seventheen century became an object of power and in an instrument to "normalize" society, and in a political tactic, the invention of the sexual identities like homosexuality and heterosexuality and the creation of identities as "normal" and “pervers” where an invention of the modernity.
If we think in the totally constraining notions of masculinity and femeninity and how some sexual organs are considered masculine or femenine. it is scientifical and politically absur to clasify some organs as femenine or masculine. for example the penis described as a masculine organ or a hormone like the testoterone as a masculine hormone. there is an obssesion in the whole speech of Baron Cohen for testosteron. i think testosteron is a hormone that is gonna give much to say in the next years, it is gonna be fundamental because it is one of the pivotal Bio-political issues. this is a hormon that has much to do with the social construction of the Bio-political masculinity and that's why this hormone has been so protected by a bio political fortin. Now a days almost any man any (Bio-Man) can go to a pharmacy and buy some pills to start a feminization process. this is not the case with testosteron we can not fin it so easily in the free maket it is still regulated by politics and the state and anybody who want to have access to it have first to go through a psiquiatric and psicological transsexual tests to get it.
Now.. pornography like a Bio-technological industry is one of the tentacles of the Bio-Power which main goal is to naturalize and normalize this practices. I give you an example a pornografic movie is pedagogic in the sense that it does not represent the sex in real live. But it tells us just how we must behave, it tells us how to use our organs, with who, in which circumstances, and in which places, pornography stablish in this way a serie of preformated ideas, even the felatio is represented as a sexual "technic" that requires a serie of steps "to be learnt". With the film Deep Trhoat American women “learnt” the how to.... and then with a global pornographic pedagogy the rest of women in the world as well.
Some scientists have taken advantage of the fears that were present in feminism in the 80s to be confronted with the body because that could lead them to an anatomical determinism in which it seemed that it was not possible to talk of just man and women, of pennises and vaginas, i think it is a challenge for modern feminism to Re-think and to Re-analize corporality and cells, i would say the micro-politics of the cells if you like…
